ONTARIO, Calif.–The California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues have announced their 2023 award recipients, including the winners of the highest honors bestowed by the leagues.
The award winners will be honored during a special ceremony at the REACH Conference Oct. 23-26 in Las Vegas.
The winners are:
- Leo H. Shapiro Lifetime Achievement Award: Lucy Ito, interim president/CEO, Orange County’s CU
- Distinguished Service Award: Eric Estes, president/CEO, Boulder Dam CU
- J. Alvin George Outstanding Volunteer Award: Howard Welinsky, First Entertainment CU; Mary Yasui-Yamabe, Kinecta FCU
- Tomorrow’s Star Award: Vanessa Torquato, VP of Administration, Mocse CU; Megan Pieper, VP of marketing & eCommerce, WestStar CU
- Social Impact Award: Erica Taylor, VP of communications and community relations, Golden 1 CU (individual); Comunidad Latina FCU (organization); SAFE CU (organization); Valley Strong CU (organization)
- Kim Bannan Eternal Flame Award: Heri Garcia, president/CEO, Thinkwise CU (individual); American Share Insurance/Excess Share Insurance (organization)
