SANTA ANA, Calif.–Several credit unions in California have announced branch closures in response to protests and looting that have taken place in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis Police.
As CUToday.info reported earlier, credit unions in Minneapolis have also closed some branches as a result of similar protests as part of an effort to protect members and employees.
SchoolsFirst FCU, saying it was following orders it has received from officials, temporarily closed some branches and ATMs in Anaheim, Cerritos, Long Beach, Los Angeles (Ladera Heights), Torrance and West Covina.
On Monday, Kinecta Credit Union in Manhattan Beach, Calif. said it was closing its branches in Los Angeles and Orange counties for the remainder of the day.
