California CU Agrees to Pay $450K to Settle Allegation it Passed Over 3 Women for CEO’s Post

VISALIA, Calif.–A California  credit union has agreed to pay $450,000 to settle an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission lawsuit alleging it unlawfully passed over three senior female employees for its chief executive position in favor of a younger, inexperienced male applicant. 

According to Westlaw Next Practitioner Insights, the $239-million Tucoemas Federal Credit Union, which was represented by Schimley Althouse, also agreed to review its anti-discrimination policies and create a tracking system for its recruitment, hiring and promotions.

The settlement was reached in federal court in Fresno, Calif., with. U.S. District Judge Anthony Ishii approving the deal, according to Westlaw.
