WOODBURY, Minn.–Two credit unions are staging card promotions tied to the holidays.
In Minnesota, Ideal Credit Union has announced its popular $1,000 Holiday Debit Card Giveaway is back for another four weeks this holiday season.
Ideal CU has held this yearly holiday promotion since 2012 and reported it has given away $28,000 to 28 lucky members. To qualify, members with an Ideal CU personal checking account simply use their Ideal CU Debit Mastercard or My Rewards Gold or Platinum Debit Card for purchases and earn a chance to win one of Ideal CU's four weekly $1,000 random drawings. Members earn 100 bonus entries into the weekly drawing when they make 25 or more purchases a week.
The promotion runs from Nov. 20 – Dec. 17, 2019.
“Our annual Holiday Debit Card Giveaway is a fun and exciting way to reward members for using their Ideal CU Debit Mastercard during the busy holiday shopping season when convenience and access are so important,” said Brian Sherrick, Ideal CU president/CEO.
Ideal Credit Union reported prior winners have used the unexpected cash to pay bills, buy more holiday gifts or travel.
“One winner had just decided to pursue her dream of becoming a personal trainer, but was concerned about where she would find the $1,000 tuition,” the credit union said. “She then got the call from Ideal with the exciting news that she had been chosen at random – just for using her Ideal CU Debit Card for every day purchases.”
Other Contest
Throughout 2019, Ideal has also been giving away $1,000 a month to one lucky winner in its “Use & Win” Debit Card Giveaway. To-date, 33 lucky winners have been chosen at random to receive the $1,000 monthly prize since this monthly member giveaway began in January of 2017. Ideal said it will continue the monthly $1,000 Use & Win promotion in 2020.
In Pennsylvania, a ‘Holiday Streak’
Separately, in Pennsylvania, PSECU is offering a $50 reward to members who participate in its 12-day “Holiday Streak” campaign, which runs through Dec. 10. To receive the reward, the credit union’s members must make at least one daily purchase with the same PSECU credit card on each of the 12 designated streak dates, spending a total of at least $200 throughout the period.
“After buying gifts, holding celebrations, and traveling to see friends and family, the holidays are often a time people’s wallets get the thinnest,” said PSECU President and CEO George Rudolph. “Through our PSECU Holiday Streak promotion, we’re offering our members the opportunity to keep even more of their hard-earned money where it belongs – with them.”
