CUToday.info To Visit With CUs in Poland, Ukraine; Will Produce Special Report Daily Newsletter

SOPOT, Poland–CUToday.info will be travelling to Poland and—if conditions permit, Ukraine—to document work being done by credit unions to aid both Ukrainian refugees in Poland and credit unions in Ukraine as both work valiantly in response to the attacks by Russia.

To highlight those efforts, thanks to the support of a number of credit unions and solutions providers to credit unions, during the week of July 10 CUToday.info will be producing a Special Report focused solely on the trip and the work being done.

How to Read the Report

The Special Report newsletter will be sent free of charge to all CUToday.info readers across the country who receive the morning email featuring that day’s news headlines, which is also free. To sign up, go here.

CUToday.info’s Frank J. Diekmann will be traveling with Dr. Brian Branch, the former president/CEO of the World Council of Credit Unions, for an update primarily on the support being provided by the Via Stella Foundation, a Polish-American initiative that has provided funds to Poland’s credit unions as they have gone to extraordinary lengths to assist the millions of refugees who have been driven from their homes and crossed the border.

The initial schedule of events calls for visits with the Ukrainian counsel in Poland; a visit to an orphanage that is receiving support from credit unions and the Foundation; interviews in Southern Poland with credit unions and refugees; travel to Lviv, Ukraine, to meet with a credit union and two deliver two ambulances that will in turn be driven by Ukrainians in the front lines city of Melitopol; and additional interviews with refugee families receiving support.

All will be updated daily in the Special Report newsletter.

About the Foundation

As CUToday.info has reported here, the Via Stella Foundation was created by Branch, along with Mitchell Stankovic Associates in the U.S. and Rafal Matusiak, president and CEO of Poland’s national credit union trade association, who has made numerous appearances before groups in the United States as part of fundraising appeals.

In addition to its work in Poland, as CUToday.info also reported, the Foundation has also purchased ambulances and supplies that were delivered in-person to the Children’s Hospital in Lviv, Ukraine.

The World Council of Credit Unions and the Worldwide Foundation, the charitable arm of WOCCU, have also been active in raising funds and assisting credit unions in Ukraine.
