CUNA’s Nussle to Host Virtual Forums Related to Proposed Trade Group Merger

WASHINGTON—CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle said he will be hosting “virtual forums” for member credit unions of both CUNA and NAFCU related to the proposed merger between the two organizations.

Jim Nussle

Nussle, who will lead the group that is to be called America’s Credit Unions should the merger be approved, sent the letter following the opening of voting earlier this week on the merger.

“We will be strategic. We will be decisive. We will be cost and value conscious. We will listen and adapt to your needs. Most importantly, we will be responsive,” Nussle wrote.

The member vote on the merger will be open until 5 p.m. ET Nov. 1.

In his message, Nussle stressed the importance of credit union feedback to make the potential new association successful and announced an upcoming series of virtual forums for credit unions to share their thoughts directly. Dates of the forums will be announced soon, the trade groups said.

Nussle also reminded credit unions that additional details on the Transition Board of Directors, membership dues, and other FAQs can be found online.

‘Courage to Pursue’

“I truly believe that the creation of America’s Credit Unions is in the best interests of your institutions and members,” Nussle wrote. “I am grateful for the board members of both CUNA and NAFCU who had the courage to pursue this immense opportunity and lead our industry into the future.”
