WASHINGTON–CUNA is expecting approximately 5,000 people will be in attendance when it kicks off its Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) this weekend, including attendees, vendors, staff and others.
The five-day meeting will be held at the Washington Convention Center and will conclude with the annual Hike the Hill lobbying efforts by various state associations visiting with their respective delegations.
Among those scheduled to address the meeting is former President George W. Bush.
GAC also includes numerous other meetings by CUNA-related organizations, as well as CUNA’s own annual business meeting and the National Credit Union Foundation’s Herb Wegner Memorial Dinner at which the highest honors in the credit union community are presented.
Credit unions are coming to town just days after 52 state bankers associations and the Independent Community Bankers of America have been challenging the credit union tax exemption, including calling on Congress to hold hearings.
