CUNA Says It’s Moving Forward With 2022 GAC; Announces New Keynoter

WASHINGTON–Even with concerns around the new omicron COVID variant, CUNA said it continues to move forward with plans for its 2022 Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, and has announced another keynote speaker for the event, scheduled for Feb. 26-March 3.

CUNA said Mick Ebeling, the author, philanthropist, and entrepreneur, will take the mainstage to discuss the fallacy of the “impossible,” and how to overcome it to reach true innovation.

“Mick brings his passion for innovation to CUNA GAC, a place where credit union professionals are eager to learn how to challenge the status quo,” said CUNA Chief Products and Services Officer Todd Spiczenski. “We’re thrilled to bring him to the mainstage and look forward to hearing his inspirational message.”
Ebeling was recently named by Fortune Magazine as one of the Top 50 World’s Greatest Leaders (2019), is a recipient of the Muhammad Ali Humanitarian of the Year Award (2014) and is listed as one of the world’s most influential creative people by The Creativity 50’s (2018).

Fallacy of ‘Impossible’
According to CUNA, Ebeling’s keynote speech, “The Fallacy of ‘Impossible’” examines how the modern conveniences we see every day were once considered impossible.

During a meeting with the media, a CUNA spokesperson said the intention remains to host GAC as an in-person event in 2022 and that it has been in discussions with both the Centers for Disease Control and the Washington Convention Center about safety protocols.

CUNA said the Convention Center has implemented increased cleaning and disinfection measures and that as GAC approaches it will share plans for additional measures, as well.
