CUNA Mutual Launches #CUGiveBack To Raise Funds For Foundation

MADISON, Wis. – CUNA Mutual Group is launching #CUGiveBack, a holiday giving campaign to support the National Credit Union Foundation.

The company will donate $5 – up to a total of $10,000 – to the Foundation for every photo or video showing holiday giving or volunteering that is shared with the company’s Twitter, Instagram or Facebook through Dec. 31.

CUNA Mutual said all are encouraged to participate by posting photos or short videos via Twitter or Instagram and mentioning #CUGiveBack and @CUNAMutualGroup in the post, or by posting photos or videos on the company’s Facebook page tagged with #CUGiveBack.

“Credit unions were founded on the idea of people helping people,” said Robert Trunzo, president and chief executive officer, CUNA Mutual Group. “We want to celebrate this holiday season by focusing on the impact credit unions, their members, and our employees make across the country.”

With this donation, the Foundation said it will support 20 additional Financial Reality Fairs in 2016, reaching more than 5,000 total additional teens.

The #CUGiveBack campaign also supports students who are likely unaware of the financial realities of paying for college. While 70% of 2015 graduating high school seniors will carry student loan debt, 75% do not have a college savings plan, and 29% say their parents have never talked to them about saving for college, CUNA Mutual said.
