WASHINGTON—CUNA said young credit union professionals will have the opportunity to learn from its own advocacy experts as well as those from leagues as part of a Young Professional Advocacy Workshop.
The three-day virtual training will take place Aug. 4-6.
“Learning the ins and outs of effective advocacy is important for any credit union leader, especially early in their careers,” said Adam Engelman, CUNA’s director of federal grassroots and programs. “Getting young credit union leaders familiar with the advocacy process and the importance of building relationships with policymakers is essential to advancing credit union policies on all levels.”
In addition to the CUNA and league reps, the training will feature guest speakers, a panel of congressional staffers, and updates on the latest credit union priorities, the association said.
According to CUNA, attendees will develop the following skills:
- Strengthening lobbying skills
- Developing legislative relationships
- Prepping for congressional meetings
- Working and coordinating with state leagues
