CUNA Launches 2020 Election Tracker Website

WASHINGTON–CUNA has launched a 2020 election tracker website it says is designed to follow the “success of CUNA-supported candidates” throughout the primaries and into the general election later this year.

“Tracking candidates supported by the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), the site features an interactive map that allows users to see state-by-state which candidates credit unions support, and the status of their primary race,” according to CUNA.

The page also features a full list of CULAC-supported candidates across the country that will be updated throughout the election season, according to the trade group.

“Because elections have such an outsized impact on their members’ well-being, credit unions take seriously their role in the electoral process,” said CUNA Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer for Political Action Trey Hawkins. “This resource will allow CULAC donors and other credit union stakeholders to see CUNA’s involvement in the 2020 elections in real time and track our success in electing officials who recognize the credit union difference in communities across the country.”

As CUToday.info reported earlier this year, CULAC announced its intent to invest a record $7 million in the 2020 election cycle. CUNA has also launched Credit Unions Vote, a resource for credit union members to find register to vote, find their local polling location, and engage in the political process.

In the 2018 election cycle, over 380 credit union candidates received CUNA backing and were elected to the 116th Congress.

In the 2020 elections, CUNA said all 97 of the candidates it has supported to date have won their races.
