WASHINGTON—CUNA kicked off the largest credit union meeting of the year here yesterday with the first day of its Government Affairs Conference. A crowd of more than 4,000 people is expected, as well as what the trade association said is its largest-ever exhibit hall.
The meeting, themed “Positive Cause, Positive Effect,” will be the first time most credit unions get to see and hear from CUNA’s new CEO, Jim Nussle, who will address the crowd this morning.
The conference opened last night with remarks from Fen. Stanley McChrystal (Ret.), who spoke of the need for communication in any organization. Coverage of McChrystal’s comments can be found here.
The World Council of Credit Unions also hosted its annual Supporters’ Reception in the ornate headquarters building of the Organization of American States (OAS), which has its own credit union (OAS FCU).
