WASHINGTON–Credit unions will be among those represented on the National Mall in Washington this week as part of the two-day Co-op Festival.
The event Is being held in conjunction with the National Cooperative Month during October and is being sponsored by the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA).
The objective is to “bring together cooperative businesses from across the country to amplify the community and economic impact that cooperatives bring,” said CUNA’s Jill Tomalin, deputy chief of staff and COO.
The event will include live music and other activates. In addition to credit unions, which will be appearing under the America’s Credit Unions banner, other co-ops that will also have tents on the mall include Cabot Creamery and REI. This is the second year CUNA has participated, and CUNA and other league staff will man the booth.
In conjunction with the event CUNA CEO Jim Nussle will appear on some media on Friday, Oct. 5, including the morning program of the local CBS affiliate, on the I Heart Radio network, and on some social media platforms.
