WASHINGTON–CUNA and its federal PAC, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC), have announced support for four incumbents in tight November races for the U.S. House of Representatives with targeted political advertising.
CUNA/CULAC announced specific support in the form of independent expenditures and other targeted communications for:
- Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) who is being supported through direct mail and digital video ads targeting credit union members.
- Rep. Rodney Davis (R-IL), who is being supported via direct mail and digital video ads.
- Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ), who represents New Jersey’s Ocean and Burlington counties and who is being supported with digital ads and mail pieces sent to targeted voters.
- Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM), who is benefiting from targeted digital ads and direct mail to voters in southern New Mexico.
Chosen For CU Support
“We don’t choose candidates by their partisan affiliation,” said Trey Hawkins, CUNA Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer for Political Action. “Like every candidate we support, these four credit union champions have recognized and supported policies that ensure their constituents can access people-over-profit financial services.
“As the election cycle heats up and voters tune out the attack ads, our focus on delivering positive messages to select voters in these districts helps to creating a welcome, meaningful difference for the candidates we’re supporting,” Hawkins added.
Earlier Support for Senators
As CUToday.info has reported, the efforts are part of a $7 million investment by CUNA, CULAC, and state credit union leagues in support of more than 350 congressional candidates in the 2020 election cycle.
Last week CUNA/CULAC announced http://www.cutoday.info/Fresh-Today/CUNA-CULAC-Launch-Ad-Blitz-For-4-Senators
an “ad blitz” for four candidates up for reelection in the Senate: Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Sen. Steve Daines(R-MT), Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI), and Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN).
CUNA noted it has also launched Credit Unions Vote earlier this year.
