CULAC Sets A Record For Funds Raised

Trey Hawkins, CUNA

WASHINGTON—Contributions to CUNA’s Credit Union Legislative Action Council (CULAC) exceeded $5 million in 2106, the trade association reported.

“We have closed the books on our 2016 fundraising and we have broken all previous records,” said Trey Hawkins, VP of political affairs. “We exceeded $5.1 million.”

Hawkins said the total represents a 15% fundraising increase from the previous election cycle.

“We spent over $4.9 million on the recent elections with tremendous success,” said Hawkins. “Ninety-seven percent of the candidates we supported were elected to the new Congress. This was a gratifying achievement and could not have been accomplished without the support of the entire CUNA/league system, and the support of thousands of credit unions and tens of thousands of their members and employees across the country.”
