CU’s Branch Hit By Midwestern Floods

DANNEBROG, Neb.–At least one credit union has been hit by the floods that have affected much of the midwestern U.S. A branch of Archer Cooperative Credit Union here has more than 18 inches of water.

“It damaged all of our offices, we also house the city offices here. All of my electrical lines and data was under water. So that will have to be replaced," Jason McIntyre, manager of the Dannebrog, Neb. branch told KSNB.

Local Fire Chief Terry Webb noted that every “business in town is major to us. Of course the finance institutions being closed is hard. Everything we are doing now is pretty superficial, it is going to take a lot, a whole lot before we are up and running.”

According to KSNB, the community came together to help the owner of the local grocery store.  "They were going to cut his power so we purchased all of his perishables before anything spoiled,” according to the report.

The $69-million Archer Cooperative Credit Union also has branches in Archer, Neb. And Central City, Neb.
