EDWARDSVILLE, Ill.–First Community Credit Union has entered into a naming rights deal for the arena inside the athletic center at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
The $2.3-billion First Community will pay $2.3-million over the deal’s 10-year term. The arena’s name is changing to First Community Arena at Vadalabene Center. The 4,000-seat arena consists of the basketball court and stands, as well as the east and west interior concourses.
The multipurpose sports and recreation building is home to SIUE's men's and women's basketball, volleyball and wrestling programs, as well as an indoor pool, offices and several recreation areas.
“We are extremely pleased to be in Illinois and growing our branch network there” said First Community CEO Glenn Barks in a statement. “We truly believe that we have all the services families need for every stage of their lives so a partnership with SIUE makes perfect sense.”
Option for 2 More Years
The SIU Board of Trustees approved the contract which includes an option for a two-year extension, which would cost another $460,000 to take the contract to June 30, 2031. The deal also gives First Community category-exclusive advertising rights inside the arena, and radio broadcast and game program advertising. As part of the deal, FCCU will also receive external signage on the center, as well as co-branding as a sponsor on signage at the Simmons Baseball Complex and Korte Stadium, where the SIUE soccer teams play.
During an announcement of the deal at the Vadalabene Center, a new logo for the arena floor was also introduced.
