CU-Supported Candidates Nearly All Successful in This Week’s Primaries

WASHINGTON—Credit union-supported candidates were successful in Tuesday’s elections in Colorado, New York, Utah, and South Carolina.

In Colorado, Republican Jeff Heard won his primary with 41.3% of the vote (compared to opponents’ 28.4% and 9.8%) in the state’s 3rd Congressional District. That seat is open in November after its current occupant, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), opted to run in another district.

Republican Jeff Crank also won his primary in the open Colorado 5th Congressional district, as current Rep. Doug Lambor (R-CO) is not seeking re-election.

In South Carolina’s 3rd Congressional District, Sheri Biggs (R) won her primary run-off re-election and will head to November’s election in a heavily Republican district.

America’s Credit Unions reported its PAC in addition to state leagues supported 34 candidates, with one loss and Utah’s 2ndCongressional District Republican primary yet to be called.

Credit union-backed candidates have a success rate over 98% in the 2024 cycle as of June 26, ACU reported.
