POMONA, Calif.—In a campaign that will culminate on Christmas Eve, Credit Union of Southern California (CU SoCal) has been giving back to its communities during the holiday season through random acts of kindness as part of its “CU SoCal Cares” efforts.
The initiative will wrap up tomorrow when CU SoCal employees plans to surprise visitors of a local Pomona gas station by filling up their tanks, the CU stated.
The CU SoCal Cares team kicked off Dec. 4 by partnering with the Pomona Police Department to help with its annual “Santa Cop” event. During the event, CU SoCal employees donated a $10,000 check to the police department to aid in its community efforts. Since then, the CU SoCal Cares team has visited various businesses throughout Pomona and surprised patrons by purchasing their coffee, snacks, meals, and more, the CU said.
Surprise at Market
In addition, on Dec. 20, the CU SoCal Cares team visited Cardenas Market in Pomona and surprised over 100 random shoppers with $100 gift cards.
When the last tank is filled at local Pomona gas stations, CU SoCal said it will have given out approximately $20,000.
“CU SoCal Cares is our way of spreading holiday cheer based on our people helping people philosophy,” said Dave Gunderson, president and CEO of CU SoCal. “We make it a point to jump on any opportunity to lift spirits and help the communities we serve.”
