ANN ARBOR, Mich.–The CU Lunch Local initiative is returning for its 10th year as a way to raise awareness of CUs during International Credit Union Week.
Sponsored by the CUSO Michigan Business Connection, the effort seeks to urge the employees of credit unions and other CU organizations to support local businesses.
“This year we’re looking to step up the challenge and show support not just one day in October but all month long with a spin on CU Lunch Local,” Michigan Business Connection said.
The company noted that in 2021 the event founders are promoting a CU Shop Local event. If a participating organization supports a local business during October 2021, participants are being asked to share photos and stories on social media along with the hashtag #CULunchLocal and #CUShopLocal.
Raising the Bar
“This year is we wanted to raise the bar of support for our local communities,” says Bill Beardsley, president/CEO of Michigan Business Connection. “Supporting our local restaurants is important, but we want to make sure other small businesses in our communities are also being celebrated for the great things they do. Credit Unions have a history of giving back and supporting their local communities. Let’s continue to stand together and help lift our local economy.”
How individuals or groups choose to mark the event is up to them, MBC said.
