CU Loan Manager Arrested During Child Sex Sting Operation

FRANKENMUTH, Mich.–The loan manager at a credit union is among 22 people here who have been arrested as part of a child sex sting operation.

Charles Haller, loan manager with Frankenmuth Credit Union, was arrested during an investigation of alleged human trafficking and child sex crimes. The arrests were made by the Genesee Human Oppression Strike Team (GHOST) of the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department.

Also arrested, according to the sheriff’s office, were:

  • Comerica Bank Senior Vice President Carl Spreadlin
  • A manager, subcontractor and factory worker at General Motors
  • Two McDonald's employees
  • Three construction workers
  • Three unemployed men

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the 22 suspects are believed to have been targeting children in Genesee County for sexual purposes.

The pending charges include someone accused of sexually assaulting a two-year-old, another accused of assaulting a six-year-old and three felony human trafficking cases, the Sheriff’s Office said.

"The investigation is a sobering reminder that we must be more vigilant than ever protecting our children, even when they are not in public," said Sheriff Robert Pickell in a Facebook post.  "Predators are increasingly becoming more adept at interacting with children through various social media platforms."
