ST. LOUIS– Together Credit Union said it is partnering with Major League Soccer’s St. Louis CITY SC on a new community-driven program called “Saves for Savings.”
As part of the program for every save CITY SC makes during the 2023 regular season, the $2.4-billion Together Credit Union will open a $300 savings account for a local student.
“The Saves for Savings program is one of the many ways we are helping local students pursue financial independence,” said Tom Kraus, COO with Together Credit Union. “We are excited to join players, fans, and the community count every save achieved on matchday.”
Saves for Savings is being led by Roman Bürki, CITY SC goalkeeper and first-ever captain, and will kick off on Feb. 25 when CITY SC takes the pitch at the Q2 Stadium against Austin FC.
“Financial independence is a process, and we are excited to continue working with CITY SC to create educational opportunities that reach local teens in an accessible, relatable way,” said Kraus.
Additional Education
In addition to the Saves for Savings program, Together Credit Union noted it and CITY SC have partnered on financial wellness initiatives benefitting teens 13-18 to help educate them on matters of finance like managing a budget, the basics of credit and the importance of saving. This includes monthly seminars hosted by Together Credit Union and CITY SC and the launch of Zogo.
In addition, Together Credit Union and CITY SC will announce a new financial wellness program in March, according to the credit union.
