LANSING, Mich.–Lake Trust Credit Union has expanded its offerings to help General Motors employees who are currently out on strike.
As CUToday.info reported earlier, a number of CUs have stepped up with various forms of assistance as the strike continues.
Now, Lake Trust CU is offering members of the United Auto Workers loans of up to $4,000 for terms out to 23 months at a rate that is below that of credit cards, according to LTCU.
"We're always looking at ways that we can support our members so when things like this happen, we're ready to step up to the plate and do what we have to do to support communities," Nicole Whitely, regional manager of Lake Trust Credit Union, told WILX.
According to General Motors and the UAW, talks have recently reached a new impasse, meaning the strike will last longer than many had expected. UAW workers are striking over both wage and healthcare issues.
