GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Following allegations of sexual misconduct against Carter Oosterhouse, Lake Michigan Credit Union said it is suspending its relationship with the star of the HGTV reality show.
Oosterhouse has been the face of the credit union for the past five years, appearing in TV ads, on billboards and in order advertising to promote LMCU’s mortgage products.
The Hollywood Reporter and other publications reported late last week that Oosterhouse had allegedly coerced a makeup artist into performing sex acts against her will.
"We take the accusations brought forth against Carter very seriously. In our dealings with Carter, we never witnessed any type of behavior suggested in the allegations and have found him to be a person of character," the credit union said in a statement.
The credit union said it is waiting for more information before deciding how to proceed.
Oosterhouse is a graduate of Central Michigan University graduate who, after arriving in Hollywood, has used his carpentry skills to become part of several HGTV shows, including Million Dollar Rooms.
