SPRINGFIELD, Mo.–CU Community Credit Union has changed its name. The $116-million CU is now Mulitipli Credit Union.
In a video on the credit union’s website at www.multiplicu.com, Multipli, which began its life as Springfield Gas Electric & Traction Employees CU, said it moved to change the name as it has grown beyond its original FOM of city utilities workers (hence the “CU” in its prior name).
“The time is right to embrace a new name that embodies what it means to be a part of our community. A new look with the same great benefits,” the video states.
“It is not a buyout it is not a merger, we simply needed to change our name for the future,” said CEO Judy Hadsall. “We hope that it will open people’s eyes that we can serve anyone in the community.”
Multipli Credit Union has approximately 11,400 members.
