CU Begins Using Marketing Materials Featuring Anti-Microbial Coating

LAKE FOREST, Calif.–The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are now being seen in a different way in credit union marketing, this time not in the messaging, but in the materials.

Several credit unions have begun using printed materials that include antimicrobial coating. The materials are being offered by Westamerica Communications.

Common usage includes printed brochures and newsletters that are often handled many times, according to the company. WestAmerica said the material is 99.9% cleaner than an untreated piece.

“We believe that WestAmerica can play a small role in reducing the transmission of dangerous microbes through a very simple and effective process,” said Vice President Mark DeBellis. “The finished product is indistinguishable from those without, and it costs only pennies to add. Each printed piece can carry the optional CLEANERPRINT symbol for additional consumer awareness.”

Among the credit unions that have switched to the antimicrobial paper is Nova Credit Union.

“Since we are living in such interesting times, whenever a new product is developed that adds to the safety of our members and our team, we are going to move forward on it quickly,” said Deb McLean, VP Marketing at Nova Credit Union, which recently produced a new series of brochures using the technology.
