WASHINGTON—All seven credit union-supported candidates won in this week’s primary elections in Maryland, Nebraska, and West Virginia, America’s Credit Unions reported.
The primaries included elections for six open seats: four in the House and two in the Senate. In Maryland, the America’s Credit Unions PAC supported candidate Johnny “O” Olszewski Jr. to replace retiring incumbent Dutch Ruppersberger in the state’s 2nd Congressional District. Olszewski won with 78% of the vote, ACU said.
Among the winners in West Virginia was Linda Bodie, CEO of Element FCU, who ran unopposed as a Democrat in the 455th district in the race for a seat in the House of Delegates. Bodie will face Republican JD Akers, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary.
Bodie and her reasons for running for office were profiled in CUToday.info here.
The next set of primaries take place in Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, and Oregon next Tuesday.
