GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–CU*Answers has announced a program this year to assist credit union CEOs and leaders in covering expenses related to attending its annual CU*Answers Leadership Conference and Golf Outing.
The event, scheduled for June 21-23 in downtown Grand Rapids, is designed for senior leaders to get together with peers and hear CU*Answers’ vision for its partnership during the coming year.
CU*Answers said the scholarship program is intended to provide a networking opportunity to a wider scope of the CU*Answers network, especially smaller credit unions that traditionally cannot afford travel expenses to the event. Applications are open to would-be first time attendees of the conference, provided they are a CEO of a CU*BASE credit union.
Twenty scholarships of up to $1,000 each are available, and applications are due before April 21. Scholarship selections will be made by a committee of CU*Answers staff, and the selected applicants will receive notifications during the week of April 25.

Separately, in conjunction with National Financial Literacy Month, CU*Answers said that as a cooperative CUSO it acknowledges the importance of maintaining good financial habits, and furthermore recognizes the industry importance of growing and maintaining financial literacy for credit union board directors.
During April, CU*Answers is promoting its Financial Literacy for Credit Union Board Directors educational video series.
The video series, which has been available from CU*Answers since 2012, is intended either to start the journey toward financial literacy, or to confirm that board members are competent, experienced credit union volunteers. The education series is advertised as a knowledge refresher, or for onboarding new credit union board members at any time. Additionally, CU*Answers said it recognizes that financial literacy doesn’t happen by simply reading about it; it comes with the confidence gained from the experience, education, and perseverance as a volunteer.
