CU*Answers Deploys Advanced Network Security Systems Around APIs

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–CU*Answers announced it has deployed advanced network security systems designed to protect upcoming application programming interfaces (APIs) for its Internet banking product, It’s Me 247.

The CUSO said the new security systems will provide additional protection against the effects of denial of service attacks, malware, and malicious code that could target advanced new functions being developed by CU*Answers and third-party application developers. To implement the solution, CU*Answers said it partnered with F5 Networks, a leading provider of advanced Internet security solutions based in Seattle.

“We wanted to provide a safe experience for third parties to innovate around our products while keeping development barriers low,” explained David Wordhouse, VP of network technologies. “The new environment does that by providing security layers with multiple checks and balances to help ensure a consistent experience for the ultimate user of the software - the member.”

CU*Answers said it expects most applications developed for the new environment will be mobile apps and browser-based solutions, but could involve other Internet-based technologies.
