CME FCU’s Effort To Save Members On Loan Interest Approaches $700,000

COLUMBUS, Ohio–Through the first week of February, CME FCU here reported it has saved its members more than $691,979 in interest with its “Mission to a Million” campaign.

Launched in May 2016, the initial goal was to save members $1 million in interest by May 2017 by refinancing current loans from other financial institutions. But due to the success of the program, the $267-million CME said it decided last year to continue the campaign through the 2017 calendar year with a new goal of saving members $1.75 million.

“Mission to a Million is a great way to give back to our members and ensure we are doing everything in our power to enhance their financial lives,” said President and CEO Jeff Carpenter.

In addition to saving members money on interest, when anyone comes into a CME branch to have their current rate evaluated, they are automatically entered to win a $2,500 Southwest Airlines gift card. If CME is unable to get someone a lower rate, the member receives $50 just for taking their loan into a branch, the CU explained.
