CHOICE Act Could Come To Floor Vote As Early As Next Week

Ryan Donovan

WASHINGTON–The Financial CHOICE Act, which has the strong backing of credit unions but is equally strongly opposed by retailers, may come to the House floor for a vote as early as next week.

CUNA Chief Advocacy officer Ryan Donovan said the trade association has been closely following House discussions regarding the Financial CHOICE Act and thinks the bill will come up for a vote next week, as previously noted by CUToday.info. The bill has already passed out of committee.

The CHOICE Act includes provisions credit unions support, such as rolling back portions of Dodd-Frank that are related to the CFPB and repeal of the Durbin Amendment. Credit unions also have expressed “concerns” over other portions of the bill.

But as CUToday.info reported here, the National Retailers Association feels just as strongly in opposition of repealing the Durbin rules, and have launched advertising around the issue.
