WASHINGTON—CUNA has joined with seven other trade associations in asking for extension of the comment deadline for proposed revisions to the CFPB’s Consumer Complaint Database.
Comments are currently due by Sept. 30, and CUNA said it seeks to have the comment deadline extended by 45 days.
“We seek an extension of the Sept. 30 deadline for comment on the Bureau’s request to ensure that we can provide fulsome feedback,” the letter reads. “The Bureau’s proposed revisions to the database merit careful consideration, and we are aware of no pressing need to make these revisions immediately. We intend to consult with our members on the proposed revisions and, from experience, know that we will receive more detailed feedback if the deadline for comment does not occur at the same time as other comment request deadlines for which we have also asked our members for feedback.”
The Sept. 30 deadline falls one week prior to the deadline for comments on the Bureau’s proposed rule on small dollar lending, which is 1,341 pages in length, and two weeks prior to the deadline for comments on the Bureau’s proposed changes to the Truth in Lending Act-Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act integrated disclosures.
The complaint comment deadline also falls in the middle of the public’s consideration of the Bureau’s proposals on debt collection, CUNA noted.
