CFO Council Names Its CFO Professional of the Year

ANAHEIM, Calif.–Susan Gruber, CFO at Pleasanton, Calif.-based Patelco Credit Union, has been named CFO Professional of the Year by the CUNA CFO Council here.

The honor was announced during the group’s annual meeting here.

The CFO Professional of the Year is presented to individuals who exemplify excellence in credit union financial management, advance the cooperative ideals of the credit union movement, and make a difference on behalf of members.

“The work we’ve accomplished at Patelco Credit Union not only met our mission, objectives, and goals—it was the right thing to do for our members,” Gruber said during an interview with the California Credit Union League, which first published the remarks.

Gruber was recognized for playing a significant role in educating staff, members, and the broader community about topics that are relevant to them and also significant to credit unions. Additionally, she crafted communication tools to educate her board of directors on complex and actionable issues such as NCUA’s risked-based capital rule, supplemental capital, liquidity strategy, and other financial or regulatory subjects, the CFO Council said.

In addition, Gruber led Patelco’s give-back effort for savers. Through its money market product, depositors with lower amounts were bumped up to the same interest rates as those with larger deposits.
