TEXARKANA, Ark.– Allen Brown, the CEO of the $122-million Mil-Way FCU here, is running unopposed in the mayoral race in this city.
His post will become official on Election Day, Nov. 6, and he will take office Jan. 1, 2019.
"My wife Shelby and I have called Texarkana home for the past 34 years, this is a great place to live," Brown said in a statement to the Cornerstone Credit Union League. "We have raised our three boys here, and we have one granddaughter being raised here now. I am excited about this new journey, I will rely on many people to ensure that our future is filled with opportunity."
Brown told the CCUL he knows the importance of economic development, and he looks forward to recruiting new business and assisting his current business in town.
"We have been blessed with wonderful career opportunities and have been able to give back to our community in many different ways," Brown was quoted by the CCUL as saying. "Service to others is the basis of our faith, and we are deeply committed to doing whatever we can to making our community better."
Current Mayor Ruth Penney Bell recently decided not to seek re-election.
