WICHITA FALLS, Texas–John Arnold, president and CEO of Wichita Falls FCU here, has died. Mr. Arnold had been leading the $22.3-million credit union since 2010. Mr. Arnold was 54.
During Arnold’s tenure with Wichita Falls FCU he more than doubled the size of the credit union’s assets and improved its financial stability and profitability overall.
Born in Germany, Arnold spent many years in North Carolina and served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps before graduating from Campbell University and thereafter serving 21 years in the North Carolina National Guard. During his service in the Guard he responded to several hurricanes and blizzards during his service. He retired from the Guard with the rank of Captain, while serving with the 1-252 Armored Battalion.
Arnold later became a certified financial planner and worked for several credit unions before he was hired as the CEO/president of Wichita Falls FCU.
The league reported that Arnold was very active in the local credit union professional community, as well as numerous local nonprofit activities, including co-chairing the logistics subcommittee for two American Cancer Society Cattle Baron Balls. He was also very active cooking BBQ for many nonprofit events.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Pam, a daughter, Lindsay, a stepdaughter Jessica Cooke, a step sons Craig Shinn and Blake Shinn, and his father, John Arnold, Sr.
