MIDLAND, Texas–Employees of Complex Community Credit Union here did everything from sewing to ironing to sanitizing to distributing masks to healthcare workers.
The credit union said it used the slowdown in traffic at its branches—where lobbies are closed and only drive-throughs are open—to learn how to sew and create the masks. In all, it delivered approximately 1,000 masks to healthcare workers in Midland, Odessa, Monahans, Big Spring and Andrews, Texas.
“Credit unions are built on the philosophy of people helping people,” Myra Aranda, marketing coordinator for CCFCU, told NewsWest9. “Our sole mission is to be a part of the community and continue to be a part of Odessa, Midland, and surrounding counties by helping those people who are on the frontlines. And what better way to put our hands to work than to figure out how to make face masks which are in great need at the moment.”
