WASHINGTON–Nearly 90,000 total comment letters have been filed with the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection as the result of its dozen Requests for Information (RFI), with most focusing on
three topics.
Attracting the most attention from commenters were the agency’s supervision programs (55,049 comment letters) public reporting practices of consumer complaint information (23,262 comment letters) and use of civil investigative demands (CIDs) (8,023 comment letters), according to Regulations.gov.
Other comment letters focused on some of the other areas on which the Bureau began seeking input after Mick Mulvaney was named acting director. Mulvaney said he is seeking ways to improve the BCFP.
While there were 12 RFIs published by the agency, just four drew more than 1,000 comments.
The Bureau has not said how it plans to act on the feedback it has received.
As CUToday.info has earlier reported, Mulvaney has also moved to rework the Bureau’s Advisory Councils, including one made up of credit unions.
