Buckeye Community CU Buys Bank Branch

PERRY, Fla.—Buckeye Community FCU has reached an agreement with Citizens State Bank to acquire the bank’s Madison, Fla., branch. BFCU expects to begin operating in Madison in June. The deal awaits state and federal regulatory approval.

The acquisition gives BCFCU a second office and provides Madison County with a local community‐based credit union option, the $75-million CU explained in a release.

“We already serve many residents of Madison County. Now we will be able to more conveniently serve our existing members and those new members who join our credit union family,” said BCFCU CEO Charlton Knowles.

Buckeye serves more than 9,000 members, and has been part of Taylor County for more than 50 years.  In 2010, BCFCU expanded its operations to serve members in Taylor, Madison, Suwannee, Hamilton, Dixie and Lafayette Counties.
