NAPERVILLE, Ill.—The eighth winner in Alloya Corporate FCU’s “10 for 10 for 10” initiative has been named: Brighter Tomorrows, Inc.
As CUToday.info has reported, Alloya is celebrating its 10th anniversary, which falls on Oct. 24, by donating $10,000 to 10 charities over 10 days.
Brighter Tomorrows was nominated by Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union in Rochester, Minn.
According to MEFCU, Brighter Tomorrows believes that every family who has been touched by a childhood cancer diagnosis deserves a compassionate, loving support system. The organization’s mission is to welcome parents, caregivers, children, family and friends to share experiences, provide resources, and offer breaks from the rigors of a cancer journey.
Mary Hansen, the chief executive officer of MEFCU, has served as a board member and secretary of the non-profit for more than 10 years after her passion for the organization was sparked when the son of an MEFCU board member was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
‘Years of Treatments’
“We watched him go through years of treatments and surgeries with such courage and strength, yet he lost the battle shortly after his first week of high school. He is our inspiration,” Hansen stated.
MEFCU has long supported Brighter Tomorrows and during the last two years, the credit union has played an integral part in sustaining the events and gatherings that help families feel supported and encouraged despite pandemic-related obstacles. Along with other local credit unions, MEFCU lends its drive-through so the Brighter Tomorrows kids can see their family and friends from a safe distance.
“This mission is about compassion, love and taking care of others, and it is MEFCU’s privilege to be a part of the mission,” Hansen said.
MEFCU serves over 68,000 members with ties to Mayo Clinic.
“Alloya congratulates MEFCU and Brighter Tomorrows for being the eighth winner of the 10 for 10 for 10 charitable donation program,” Alloya said.
