Brian Orenstein To Retire From Charter Oak FCU

WATERFORD, Conn.—Brian Orenstein, president and CEO of Charter Oak FCU here, announced he will retire from the $1.7-billion organization on Jan. 1, 2026, The Day reported.

Orenstein joined the CU in 2007 a CEO.

Orenstein told The Day Charter Oak is “stronger than ever" and poised for further growth.

Looking back on his time at Charter Oak, Orenstein said, “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished and know it was only possible because of the hard work and dedication of our board of directors, supervisory committee and most importantly our employees. The trust and commitment that our employees receive from our membership is what makes our credit union so successful.”

Orenstein told The Day Charter Oak doesn't currently have someone on board ready to replace him, so, the CU has retained a search firm to find a new CEO, preferably from New England or the Northeast.

"It's been an honor and a privilege to be a CEO here," he said, "I'm not going away. We're family here at Charter Oak."
