ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – CU members aren’t just being effected by breaches at the big box retailers.
Police here are investigating a breach believed to have occurred at the local Colonial Car Wash in early March, and further believed to involve car washes up and down the east coast.
In the case of Colonial Car Wash, affected were customers of two banks plus members of Price Choppers FCU. At all the institutions, customers/members have reported fraudulent activity on their accounts, and all of those had used a debit or credit card at the car wash.
Local police said they have contacted the U.S. Secret Service after learning that car washes in other areas were also the sources of other data breaches.
