KNOXVILLE, Tenn.—A branch of Health Care Services CU was robbed by a thief who claimed he had a bomb.
The Chattanoogan.com reported that the robber entered the CU office at 946 East 3rd St., demanded money from a teller, and threatened to blow up the credit union.
The crook fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving the item he claimed to be a bomb on the teller counter. The item was later determined to be a hoax by the Chattanooga Police Department Bomb Squad.
The suspect has been described as a black male in his late 20s to mid-30s, wearing a red shirt with a yellow symbol on the front, having a goatee, wearing a boonie style hat, and carrying a blue backpack.
The Knoxville Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Chattanooga Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man.
