Boulder Dam Names New President and CEO

BOULDER CITY, Nev.– Boulder Dam Credit Union, has named a new president and CEO. The $815-million credit union has selected Steele Hendrix to lead the organization and succeed the retired Eric Estes.

Steele Hendrix

Hendrix has more than 30 years of experience in credit unions, having served most recently served as EVP with Boulder Dam CU. He has also served as chief technology officer, senior VP-marketing and business development, and SVP of Nevada operations with Cumorah Credit Union and Credit Union 1, respectively.

While at BDCU, he spearheaded a comprehensive overhaul of the online presence, “ensuring enhanced digital accessibility and member experience. Hendrix also played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of a drive-up ATM, providing members with convenient access to their accounts,” the credit union said. “Under his guidance, a branch remodel project is underway, creating a modern and inviting space for our valued members.”

Managed Through ‘Uncertainties’

In addition, Boulder Dam said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hendrix navigated the credit union “adeptly through the uncertainties,” ensuring the safety of both members and staff while maintaining uninterrupted services.

“His expertise was crucial in managing staff transitions and overseeing operational evolution, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow,” Boulder Dam CU said, adding he also prioritized leadership development and investing in the team's growth and skills.

“Steele’s extensive background in financial services, coupled with his passion for community involvement, make him a perfect fit for Boulder Dam Credit Union,” said retired CEO Eric Estes. “He has demonstrated a strong commitment to our community, learning, and accepting new challenges.”

‘Excited’ to Build on Legacy

Added Hendrix, "I am excited to build on the legacy of exceptional service and community engagement that this credit union is known for. I am honored to serve as the next CEO of Boulder Dam Credit Union and will strive to build upon the strong foundation currently in place with an eye towards the future, working closely with the board, the team and our incredible members.”

Hendrix has a Bachelor’s in Business from the University of Nevada Las Vegas and a Master’s in Information Systems from the University of Phoenix. He also completed several integral credit union designations, including Western CUNA Management School and CUES Chief Executive (CCE) designation.
