WASHINGTON—Language related to interchange and other measures credit unions oppose, such as bank access to military bases, is not included in the compromised version of the National Defense Authorization Act.
As CUToday.info has been regularly reporting, credit unions have been wary of language related to one or both of the provisions being inserted in the must-pass legislation.
A vote on the $900-billion bill is expected soon, as lawmakers aim to send it to President Biden’s desk before the end of the month. The Senate is expected to vote first, followed by the House. The NDAA calls for a 4.2% pay increase for members of the military.
NAFCU further explained the House is expected to consider the measure under suspension of the rules to expedite the process, bypassing procedural votes but requiring a two-thirds majority.
