VERNON HILLS, Ill.—Count Baxter CU among the growing number of credit unions employing video tellers.
The $2.8-billion CU said it plans to open several unmanned, video-only branches later this year using Vidyo’s cloud-based video collaboration technology.
The new branches will be in remote locations. More than 65% of BCU members are not located near a branch, the credit union said in a statement.
“With our mobile-first mindset, we looked for a simple-to-use video platform that would run across mobile and desktop applications and varying network connections – which made Vidyo the right fit for BCU,” Carey Price, SVP and chief retail officer at BCU, said in a press release.
BCU uses Symitar’s Episys core banking system. In 2016, Baxter became one of the first takers of Symitar’s new product, Financial Innovations Voice Experience (FIVE). FIVE explores the possibilities that voice-based personal assistants such as Amazon’s Echo and Microsoft’s Cortana can bring to banking.
