OTTAWA, Ill.–Bakelite Credit Union has a new name. The $12-million CU is now First Choice Credit Union.
"We believe our new name better represents our community membership charter, supports future growth and will be better recognized in the community," said President Diane Johnson. "While our name has changed, our core values and commitment to serving our community remains the same."
First Choice will be hosting a ribbon cutting to celebrate its new name on June 23. The 1,800-member CU was chartered in 1953 to serve employees of the Bakelite Ottawa Plastics factory.
