BECU Expanding East In Spokane Market

TUKWILA, Wash.—BECU said it will be expanding east into the Spokane market in 2016, where the $14-billion credit union said it plans to open several Financial Centers.

It is currently finalizing property negotiations. This will be the first time that BECU will operate retail branches in the area to serve its 4,000-plus Spokane-area members, the credit union said in a statement, although it has operated a contact center in Spokane Valley with more than 100 employees for more than 10 years and has had ATMs in 11 Rite Aid stores since 2014.

“BECU was founded on the idea that by working together, members can achieve their financial goals,” said Benson Porter, BECU president and CEO. “We look forward to sharing our approach to finance with Spokane residents through our proven formula of better rates and lower fees supported by our robust digital offerings, our amazing people-to-people service and a commitment to financial empowerment.”

BECU said it will open the new financial centers in the third quarter of 2016 and they will be located in the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley.

BECU has 930,000 members; all Washington State residents are eligible to join.
