WASHINGTON–Average housing rental rates hit an eight-year high in July, according to the Department of Labor.
The news comes despite a boom in the building of apartments, as supply continues to lag demand.
According to the Department of Labor, rents rose 0.3% in July over the previous month, and 3.8% in the 12 months ending July, matching the highest level since Jan. 2008.
