Aussie CU Follows Major Banks In Waiving ATM Fees For Non-Members

BRISBANE, Australia–Queensland Country Credit Union here is following a move made by four of this country’s major banks and waiving charges for non-members to use most of its ATMs.

“As a member-owned organization, Queensland County was delighted that the recent updates to ATM charges quadrupled the number of places our members could easily access cash without fees across the nation,” said the CU’s CEO, Aileen Cull. “We know that nobody enjoys paying unnecessary charges and we already offer members affordable banking products designed to meet their needs rather than profit shareholders.”

Cull said QCCU is now extending that service to non-members to access all but two Queensland Country ATMs across the state without paying a fee.

Non-members withdrawing cash from ATMs in Weipa and Glenden will still pay a nominal charge to help offset the actual cost of maintaining services in these remote regions, the credit union said.

Cull said she was confident ATM services would not be reduced as a result of newer cashless services.

“Technologies like payWave continue to grow in popularity and many of our members are already taking a cash-free approach to managing their finances,” she said.
