MASON CITY, Iowa–In conjunction with the in-state rivalry college football game this weekend between the University of Iowa and Iowa State, CENT Credit Union today will be hosting its long-running “CENT Divided Tailgate.
The public event will feature food, games, and prizes from 11 a.m.—2 p.m. at The CENTer here.
As part of CENT Divided, the Jell-O Eating Contest for Charity will return for its second year, and all of the competitors from year one have agreed to return to battle.
“CENT Divided is a celebration of the Cy-Hawk rivalry, this community, our members, and our select employee groups that make up our membership,” CENT President and CEO Matthew Chizek said. “Public servants are part of one of our valued SEGs, and we wanted to include them in doing what CENT does best: give back.”
Each competitor competes on behalf of a North Iowa nonprofit, and the one who eats the most Jell-O during the three-minute contest will win $500 for his chosen charity. The two runners-up will win $250 for theirs. The winning competitor will also have his name engraved on a new traveling trophy and will get to possess it “Stanley Cup-style” until next year’s event, the credit union said.
